Ola SageMs. Ola Sage, CEO

“Far better to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory, not defeat.”
- Theodore Roosevelt

Ola Sage lives a life rich in substance and accomplishment. Through the example of her entrepreneurial parents in West Africa, she experienced the rigors of running a small business. As a student who excelled in sports, music, and academics, she became interested in the world of information technology (IT) during college. After obtaining her degree, a B.S. Summa cum laude in Computer Information Systems, Ola elected to pursue a Masters degree in Technology Management from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. This curiosity in the world of information systems has fueled her desire to explore how merging technology with enterprise can offer vital solutions for a variety of business challenges.

Those early experiences in business have continued to serve her well in her current role as president and chief executive officer of e-Management, a company which she founded in 1999.  Named as one of “25 Powerful Minority Women in Business” by the Minority Enterprise Executive Council, Ola’s leadership skills and unique approach to management have led to the success of e-Management as an award winning company which has received multiple notations on the Washington Technology Fast 50 list of ranked companies and by Inc. magazine. Her principle focus in the company is to shape the company’s strategic vision and business plan development and to provide thought leadership on a range of emerging and critical technology issues to government.

Ola is the recipient of the prestigious Chief Information Officers (CIO) certificate offered to senior level executives through the federal CIO University. The certification program directly addresses executive core competencies adopted by the federal CIO Council that are deemed important for the federal IT community to be successful. Ola is also a member of the Institute for Management Accountants, a Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM); and a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute. She holds the Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) certification through the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA). Ola is the recipient of the 2010 Women in Technology (WIT) leadership award in the Corporate Public Sector Small Business category and SmartCEO magazine’s 2012 Brava! Women Business Achievement award (Washington), and the Washington Business Journal 2013 Minority Business Leader award.

Ola’s passion for developing intelligent solutions for complex challenges is grounded by her compassion for individuals. Through her example as a servant-leader, e-Management has become a company which promotes a culture of community involvement; encouraging employees to volunteer in a wide spectrum of charitable endeavors which include organizations such as, A Wider Circle, Girls on the Run, The Literary Council of Montgomery County, and the Department of Energy’s and Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR® “Change the World, Start with ENERGY STAR” campaign, among others.

Outside of her duties as CEO, Ola finds balance in life through a shared interest with her husband for ballroom dancing, watching movies, and exploring the world through travel. Ola’s gift for inspiring people weaves throughout her accomplishments and may be best embodied by one of her favorite quotes:

"Of all the things I've done, the most vital is coordinating the talents of those who work for us and pointing them toward a certain goal."
– Walter Elias Disney, Founder, Walt Disney Company, 1954
