Cybersecurity is Not a Tech Issue
May 27, 2014 – e-Management Founder & CEO Ola Sage will lead the company’s next webinar, “Cybersecurity is NOT a Tech Issue?!” The session examines the potential impact the new and involuntary Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity Framework from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) may have on organizations and their bottom-line. The webinar starts June 10 at 1 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. Registration is now open at
“Cybersecurity is really a business issue that disproportionately affects small and mid-size companies,” asserts Ms. Sage. “This webinar focuses less on the technical aspects of cybersecurity and more on the things that matter to business leaders—keeping business; staying in business; and getting new business. The new framework from NIST can actually help businesses better understand the cybersecurity risks to their business, be better equipped to make critical IT security decisions, prioritize investments, and maximize the impact of their investments in cybersecurity.”
The 45-minute session also provides “common sense” assessment of the NIST cybersecurity framework and its main five functions. Ms. Sage will advise what to look for when searching for solutions that automate the framework. In addition, she will discuss how “cyber-thugs” are targeting businesses, their customers, and their investments. “The new cybersecurity framework from NIST is not all scary,” explains Ms. Sage. “But not knowing your cybersecurity risk posture is. This webinar will provide the most vulnerable businesses with the tools they need to keep business; stay in business; and get new business.”
Ms. Sage is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Information Technology Sector Coordinating Council (IT SCC), which is comprised of the nation’s top information technology (IT) companies, professional services firms, and trade associations. The IT SCC is currently working in partnership with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to address strategies for mitigating cybersecurity threats and risks to our nation’s critical infrastructure, especially for businesses and organizations that are particularly vulnerable. Ms. Sage has received numerous awards including a 2010 Women in Technology leadership award; and more recently, the Washington Business Journal’s 2013 Minority Business Leader award. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and also holds the Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) certification through the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA).
Under Ms. Sage leadership, e-Management has played a key role in helping clients design, build, and maintain their cybersecurity programs. In addition, Ms. Sage’s thought leadership in the area of risk management led to the development of the company’s risk management products eGov Risk Portfolio Manager, a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) product which is currently in use at federal agencies; and the newly launched CyberRx, a cybersecurity risk management and monitoring solution that provides an early warning system for cyber related events.
e-Management is the recipient of two prestigious awards from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)—Cybersecurity Training Award (2010) and Innovative Technical Achievement Award (2013). e-Management webinars are offered to the public, government staff, and industry professionals, including government professionals, contracting officers and specialists, entrepreneurs, and government contractors.
